Potluck Lunch

A potluck dinner is a meal where many people bring different dishes that they share. Some people bring hot food [1] or cold, some bring sweet dishes, some bring savory, some bring soup or pasta, some bring crackers/cookies [3] or drinks. Somebody needs to bring paper plates [4] or utensils.

Usually each person brings enough food for two or three people. That way, most people can find something that they like, and you can even go back for seconds. The word "luck" reminds us that nobody knows exactly what they will eat. The meal is full of happy surprises.

  1. It's really good have a potluck lunch like today.
I've experienced this kind of potluck dinner many times in our community. Every family prepared their favorite dish to share with others. We can not only taste different dishes and socialize with neighbors at the party.
    thank you sir.

  3. So do I. I love this felling. It was not only a meal but also promote among classmates and between teacher & students emotions. Although we shouldn't be drinking in such an occasion. We apologize to you. However all of classmates were very pleasant and had nice memories. Thank you very much.

  4. That day was the happiest day in this semester I thought. we shared lots of dishes for example, ginger duck soup, traditional Hakka foods, homemade salads, curry, fruits, crackers with four or five kinds of delicious cheeses and so on. The name which we wrote on cards really helped us to remember their names by its shapes in this potluck. I really like this kind of potluck and we even still make it alive after that so far. we use unfamiliar English to discuss what we should prepare by each. That was wonderful. Thank you for giving us such a experience.

  5. A potluck lunch is not only a meal people bring different dishes they share but also socialize to each other. I often saw that it was going on in West nations like US on the TV program. It's a pity that Taiwan was rare to have a potluck with neighbors except family in my memory.
